Schmidt-Rubin 1889, produced in 1893, is in good condition with 60% original finish. 5/5 Bore. 1/5 Stock. Stock and handguard matching serial numbers. Bolt matching serial number. Magazine matching serial number. Top charging handle knob is cracked. Stock has heavy and rough handling marks throughout, including scratches and gouges. The stock has an unrepaired crack at the grip. There are a series of gouges on the left side of the handguard behind the rear barrel band. The left side of the receiver is in the white, with pitting on the right side of the receiver. Photo editor. Frost continues on the barrel shank and on the right side of the rear sight. Bluing on both barrel bands are worn and with patina. Trigger plate has most of its bluing remaining, but the rear of the plate is in the white. Trigger guard bluing is very worn and approaching white. Magazine has heavy edge wear and patina, with marks in the finish on the right side. Receiver is P/24 stamped. Includes muzzle cover and leather sling. Antique; no import engraving.

The Model 1889 rifle is the first in a series of Schmidt-Rubin rifles put into service by the Swiss Military from the 1890s through the 1950s. The revolutionary straight pull bolt design allowed the user to unlock the action and eject a spent cartridge in one motion, then push forward to load the next round, arm the striker, and lock the action, saving time between shots. The 1889 rifle is chambered in 7.5x53.5mm Swiss Gewehrpatrone 1890 (GP90) and is fed with a 12 round detachable box magazine.
